A supercycle is a period of strong economic growth. Developed originally in the 1920/30s with economist Nikolai Kondratiev and Joseph Schumpeter—supercycles describe how long-term economic cycles are driven by major technological innovations resulting in periods of boom and bust that last roughly 20-40 years.
In 2001, economist Carlota Perez further developed this idea and identified three technological cycles: Installation, Turning Point, and The Deployment Period, which she describes as the "Golden Ages."
Today we are in the 6th long wave of technology marked by innovations such as AI, clean energy, blockchain and robotics. It's even been suggested that Bitcoin may shift away from its four-year cycle into a crypto supercycle.
Analysts are now predicting that what we are witnessing is a new Golden Age that's slowing unfolding and will end approximately in 2045.
